Biographical Sketch:
Belong to Solvay Silica, Dr-Ing Laurent Guy is actually Global R&I Applications Lab Manager in charge of WW Products Development & Technical Support to Customers in Silica / Material Technology (Tire, Polymer, Oral Care, Membranes,…) based in France (Lyon) and including coordination of R&I teams in Europe, Asia and LatAm. He has also an internal positioning as Scientific Officer in Material expertise (external communications and papers, academic collaborations, ….). In 1992, he is graduated from the Chemical High School of Mulhouse as Chemical Engineer. In 1997, he has obtained a PhD thesis in the Polymer Chemistry. The topic is about the well-controlled thermo-chemical degradation of the Polyethylene and the understanding of the radical mechanisms and theirs orientations. Next, in 1998, he has followed a first postdoctoral-fellowship with Michelin in the field of the characterization and the modification of the mineral filler system. In 1999, a second postdoctoral -fellowship have been done with Rhodia in the field of the silanes and silicones synthesis. He has joined Rhodia in 2001 as Application Engineer for the development of the silica systems for Tire Applications. In 2005, he is evolved towards the Advanced Material Department at the Rhodia R&D Center in order to develop the understanding of the structure-properties relationship as senior staff scientist. In 2007, he took the position as Lab Manager for the Silica Applications (including Tire Market). He is co-author of several scientific publications and patents in the field of the rubber reinforcement using silicas systems and the rubber frictions.
