Biographical Sketch:
Professor Katrina Cornish is Ohio Research Scholar and Endowed Chair in Bioemergent Materials, and leads a program at The Ohio State University on domestic rubber production, biobased fillers, and exploitation of agricultural biomass and food processing wastes for products and biofuels. She has >175 publications and patents, ranging from genetic engineering to product development. She led the USDA’s development of domestic natural rubber production, 1989-2004. Her inventions were licensed by Yulex and form the foundation of the US domestic rubber industry. As Senior Vice President, R&D at Yulex, 2004-2010, Dr. Cornish oversaw the company's research, development, crop science, production, validation and regulatory programs for guayule latex. She has received numerous awards and holds a Ph.D. in Plant Biology and a B.Sc. (1st Class Honours) in Biological Sciences from the University of Birmingham, England.
