The combination of environmental stresses along with the need for higher performance standards and longer service life in dynamic rubber applications, has forced the rubber industry to explore new types of accelerators to replace conventional accelerators such as thiurams, guanidines, and dithiocarbamates.  Zinc dithiophosphates have been around for several decades which is still considered a new chemistry for the rubber industry.  In this paper we will look at what affect zinc dithiophosphates have in different types of sulfur cured polymers and what advantage zinc dithiophosphates possesses.
