Though short fiber reinforcement has been used for many years in power transmission belts, its ability to significantly improve performance properties at low loadings makes these fibers a very cost effective way to enhance desired attributes in many polymers. This paper will discuss both cellulose and aramid fibers, their uses and applications. It will also show how predispersions improve the incorporation of these fibers so that they can achieve the best reinforcement at the most efficient loadings.
