25 The Influence of Humidity On Ozonolysis of Polybutadiene

It was widely known that many factors influence ozonolysis of diene rubber.However, detail of the influence hasn’t been discussed until now.
We focused on the influence of humidity on ozonolysis of diene rubber.We observed the ozone cracks on the surface by microscope and analyzed by FTIR.
And then, we found that the humidity accerates the formation of cracks and oxidation on the rubber surface.
We also founded that hydroxyl radicals were detected by ESR.
It showed that radical reaction occurred in the high humidity with ozonolysis unlike in the low humidity.
