Specialty Butyl Elastomers for Tire Applications from Royal Elastomers

Royal is a global supplier of adhesive and sealant products used in automotive, construction, roofing, insulated glass and many other specialty applications. In addition, Royal also produces a line of specialty elastomers which can be used as performance additives in many rubber applications. KALENE^® and ISOLENE^® liquid elastomers can be used as non-extractable reactive plasticizers that cure into the rubber network. KALAR^® products are pre-crosslinked butyl rubber grades. They act as performance additives for applications that require the properties of butyl rubber. An overview will be given of these products with some application examples. Specific reference will be made to the use of these specialty butyl elastomers for improving the performance of tire innerliner compounds.
