The conversion from solvent bourne rubber to substrate bonding agents(RtSBA) to water bourne systems provides some unique challenges for a RtSBA Formulator. This presentation will compare the RtSBA performance comparison between similar chemical architectures of a solvent bourne bonding agent used in the RtSB market for over the past twenty years to a newly developed water bourne system. Of particular significance is the ability to adhere a wide range of peroxide cure rubber and elastomer compounds to various substrates, such as CRS, pre-treated CRS, SS, polyamides and other substrates. Ultimately introducing a new RtSB Product to help reduce VOC's, HAPS and multicomponent bonding systems.
