Biographical Sketch: I am an undergraduate student in the Plastics Engineering Department at UMass Lowell assisting with research in the Center for High Rate Nanomanufacturing under Dr. Joey Mead. My current work involves evaluation of the effect of a coupling agent on the properties of a silica filled rubber network through the use of a Rubber Process Analyzer. It is expected that coupling will enhance polymer-filler interactions and bound rubber content, which has been shown to increase the strain-independence of elastic modulus. We are also developing and testing methods for replication of superhydrophobic surfaces for the purpose of manufacturing. Prior works include commercial and medical plastic product research and development in addition to academic research roles in coating of PLA films. My interests lie primarily in polymer systems research with a fundamental approach to engineering. I am new to the vast field of rubber research, but looking forward to learning more about these highly complex materials.
