Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Shannon Bollin has worked at Ford Motor Company for over twelve years and is a Research Engineer in the Materials and Manufacturing Research Department. Dr. Bollin has a Ph.D and M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. She is currently leading a project that is funded by the United Soybean Board to investigate the use of soy oils in the compounding and development of rubber automotive components. Some of her other projects have included studying the effect of processing on the morphology and physical behavior of polymers, as well as the development of bio-based polyurethane foams. Shannon also has extensive experience in polymer characterization using analytical techniques including SEM, EDS, AFM and TEM, as well as technical problem solving.
