Biographical Sketch:
Dian graduated from Beijing University of Chemical Technology and got her bachelor degree in 2013. Now she is a graduate student in department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. She is working on thermoplastic polyurethane nanocomposites reinforced with carboneous nanofillers. In her work, she tries to investigate different melt compounding conditions for nanofillers with different dimensions in order to improve filler dispersion within TPU matrix. She also works on the use of surfactant in melt compounding procedures to get more homogeneous filler dispersion. Another interesting area she is working on is 1D CNTs and 2D graphene hybrid fillers in polymer matrix since the combination of high aspect ratio of CNT and larger surface area of graphene can be responsible for synergistic effects observed in some properties of TPU nanocomposites.
