A novel  iodine-containing perfluoroelastomer gum (PFE 40Z) is introduced. It is designed for very rapid peroxide cure, improved processing and enhanced physical properties of conventional perfluoroelastomers (FFKM).

The polymer is compared for chemical resistance to conventional peroxide cured FFKM, and the sealing ability is not only demonstrated by a significant reduction in permanent compression set after heat aging, but also further demonstrated by Compression-Stress Relaxation (CSR) data. This data show the actual sealing forces involved during in-service use of articles molded from this new class of perfluoroelastomer.
