Cyclic olefin copolymers are materials of high rigidity and strength. Clever change to the ethylene and norbornene comonomer ratio created an elastomeric material with exceptional toughness and impact characteristics. Many well-known COC properties such as transparency, dielectrics, low leachables and extractables, and chemical resistance are maintained. Moisture and alcohol barrier properties are superior to most TPEs and TPUs. Elastomeric cyclic olefin copolymers are targeted as a high-performance alternative to traditional thermoplastic elastomers for a broad range of applications, including medical, pharmaceutical, food packaging, optics and electronics.
