Coal Powder and Devuclanized Tire Rubber in Off-the-Road Tire Formulation

In an effort to reduce cost of rubber compounds by replacing higher cost regular carbon blacks, coal powder in combination with devulcanized tire rubber was tested in off-the-road (OTR) tire formulations. Physical properties tested on compounds at lab were satisfactory. Further tests on OTR tires made with the compounds were field tested.  The performance was comparable to the tires made with regular reinforcing carbon black filled compounds. This paper presents work done on evaluating coal powder and devulcanized rubber combinations in OTR tire formulations.
