ABSTRACT
The Effect of Binder Systems on Dispersion Quality
The rubber industry as a whole has tried to reduce hazmat, health, and housekeeping issues associated with many cure accelerators by incorporating them with non dusting binder systems that are polymer bound. Polymer bound dispersions (PBD) have been the industry standard binder system for many years; however, new technology involving liquid bound dispersions (LBD) is on the rise. In this study, accelerators in powder form, polymer bound form, and liquid bound forms are evaluated for dispersion quality, incorporation time, cost competitiveness, and activity levels.
