He studied physics at the University of Karlsruhe and did his doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research in Düsseldorf. 1987 he jointed Degussa AG as the head of the rubber laboratory. Be-tween 1994 and 2002 he was the head of the Reference and Development Laborato-ries and between 2003 and 2010 he was the responsible manager for rubber filler characterisation at the Evonik Degussa GmbH. At 01.07.2010 he undertook the task as Manager Research & Development; Applied Technology Tire & MRG of the Evonik carbon Black GmbH and now he is Director Applied Research & Development, Applied Technology Tire & MRG of Orion Engi-neered Carbons in Kalscheuren near Cologne.
