Biographical Sketch: Stewart Silling has a Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics from the California Institute of Technology. He has worked in the nuclear power industry and been a faculty member at Brown University. He is currently a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His research interests include continuum mechanics, elasticity theory, fracture, and computational mechanics and its applications.
