Biographical Sketch: Dr. Van Ooij received his PhD in Physical Chemistry
(with highest honors) from the Delft University of
Technology in The Netherlands. Some of his professional
and society affiliations include the American Chemical
Society, Materials Research Society, China Ordnance
Research Society and Royal Dutch Chemical Society.
His interests include corrosion control of metals by
organic coatings and chemistry of silanes at metal
surfaces. Among his numerous honors and awards,
the most recent was the UC Special Achievement
Award (for submitting 100 invention disclosures) and
the UC Emerging Entrepreneur Award. He also has
over 350 technical and scientific publications and
more than 50 patents with companies such as Akzo
Corporate Research, 3M, Pirelli SpA (Italy) and
Armco Research & Technology.
