The objective of our indoor wear technology is to evaluate tires for wear performance in a laboratory environment. Performance includes wear rate and worn appearance or irregular wear. Studies have shown that indoor wear testing provides advantages over traditional consumer or fleet testing, because of its better control and reproducibility. Several approaches can be used to perform indoor wear testing. These include full vehicle measurement and playback; vehicle simulation based; and energy based. This study looks at an energy method for testing.
