Dynamic-mechanical analysis in the MHz region provides valuable information for understanding the behavior of filled elastomers. A direct measurement is provided by ultrasonic spectroscopy a method which is still today not commercially available. Starting from the basic principle of the method, the effect of polymer chain microstructure, nature and loading of nanoscaled fillers (CB, silica, layered silicates and CNTs) will be presented. The high sensitivity of the measurement enables the detection of interfacial contributions in nanocomposites.
