Biographical Sketch:
Charles G. Yurkovich Jr. has been Vice President, Global Technology for Cooper Tire & Rubber Company since July 2005. He is responsible for leading the Cooper technical organizations on three continents in the development, maintenance and improvement of new products and technologies for all product lines. Since joining Cooper, Yurkovich has restructured the Technical organization and its approach to development, and established Technical Centers for the company in Europe and Asia. Development teams under his guidance have introduced highly successful product lines in North America, Europe and Asia, including among others the Cooper CS4 Touring tire, the Cooper Zeon RS3, a high performance track-ready tire that is original equipment on all Roush Stage 3 and Roush P51 Mustangs, and the Cooper GFE, a highly fuel efficient tire line for passenger cars. He had also promoted the development of new industry leading materials and product related technology for both civilian and military applications. Prior to joining Cooper, Yurkovich held a number of technical, sales/marketing, and managerial positions at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 33 years. He served as keynote speaker at the 2003 American Chemical Society Rubber Division meeting, authored an ACS Rubber Division paper in 2003, and holds U.S. patents on several tire designs for light truck, SUV, commercial truck and military applications. Yurkovich holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Case Institute of Technology, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. He also completed business strategy training at Columbia University Graduate School of Business, New York, N.Y., and leadership training at both Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, and Notre Dame University in South Bend, Ind. A Findlay, Ohio, resident, he is a former member of the trucking industry Maintenance Council (TMC).
