Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Christopher Robertson is an expert in the area of polymer physics, especially the study of nonlinear viscoelastic behavior of particle-reinforced elastomers, segmental relaxation dynamics of polymers, and thermorheological complexity. Chris received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute working with Prof. Garth Wilkes and then spent two years as a postdoctoral research associate in Dr. C. M. Roland's polymer physics group at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. Since then, Chris has been involved with industrial research at ExxonMobil Chemical Company, Saint-Gobain High Performance Materials, and now at Bridgestone Americas Center for Research and Technology in Akron, Ohio where he has worked for six years and is currently a senior research scientist. The Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society honored Chris with the 2008 Sparks-Thomas Award for outstanding scientific contributions and innovations in the field of elastomers by a younger scientist. He was also awarded the Netzsch Instruments Frank Giblin Memorial Award in Polymer Analysis from the Society of Plastics Engineers in 1998. Dr. Robertson is co-author of 40 peer-reviewed publications and 14 patents / patents pending, and he is a member of the editorial board of Rubber Chemistry and Technology.
