Dr Gerd Schmaucks Elkem AS Hoffsveien 65 B Oslo Norway Email: gerd.schmaucks@elkem.no Biographical Sketch: Born 1958 in Berlin, Germany 1979-1984 Study of Chemistry at the University of Leipzig, Germany Following three years in the plastics and rubber industry, he spent several years at the Max-Planck-Institute of Colloids and Interfaces working with the synthesis of silicon based surfactants. During this time he gained a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Technical University of Merseburg, Germany. From 1994 to 1998 he was appointed as development manager with BICC Cables Ltd. The main focus of his work was on high performance elastomeric and halogen-free flame retardant cable compounds. After working as independent consultant he joined Elkem Materials in Kristiansand, Norway, in 2000 as project manager, responsible for the development of inorganic additives for rubber and plastics. He is author or co-author of a number of scientific publications and holds several patents. He is a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers and the German Society of Chemists. |
