Talc provides flexibility to balance the benefits of improved processability with product performance in thermoset rubber. In injection molding applications, the partial substitution of talc for reinforcing fillers lowers compound viscosity and improves mold flow. Talc reduces nerve, thus, minimizing problems associated with elastic instabilities in the molding operation. It also reduces heat generation during plastification thus expanding the processing window. Talc exhibits a synergistic effect in combination with other reinforcing pigments to provide toughness and durability in service. |
