Biographical Sketch:
Dr. James L. White is the Chaired Morton Professor of Polymer Engineering at The University of Akron. He studied Chemical Engineering at Brooklyn Polytechnical Institute and then joined the Department of Chemical Engineering, the research group of then A.B. Metzner at the University of Delaware. He jointly developed the White-Metzner rheological model. His early career started in industry, working for Uniroyal. He later joined the University of Tennessee and became the originator of the Polymer Engineering MS and PhD programs. He later moved to The University of Akron, where he started the Polymer Engineering Department, serving as Chair and Center Director. He started a new society now called the Polymer Processing Society. He has published more than 500 papers and eight books. His awards include Society of Rheology’s Bingham Medal and Yuko -Sho Award, Society of Plastics Engineers Education and Engineers Research, and Heinz Herrmann Twin Screw Extrusion award.
