A  highly intrumented  real time  stress and strain optical measurement system   was developed utilizing  spectral birefringence measurement  technique in combination with  high speed video capture system that provides direct true stress and true strain measurements during biaxial deformation of polymer films.  In this presentation we will discuss  the mechano optical behavior of a range of polymers  deformed in biaxial deformation mode including includes sequential, simultaneous deformation modes. In addition the  utility of non-linear rate profiles and their  implications on the  strain induced crystallization will be discussed.
