Awards: 2009: The Paul J Flory Polymer Research Prize for his pioneering work on polymerization. 2008: Outstanding Alumni Award, The University of Akron, Ohio, USA. 2008: NSTF Cash Award to a Researcher for Research Capacity Development over the last 10 years. 2005: WISA-MTD Honorary Award in full recognition of his role to advance and support membrane science and technology. 1998: Awarded Centre of Excellence for Polymer Science by Sasol Polymers. 1997: Awarded the International UNESCO Associated Centre for Macromolecules and Materials. 1993: Chemical Manufacturer's Association Award (Best academic contribution to industry.) 1989: William Sage Award of the Plastic and Rubber Institute. 1988: Awarded Centre of Expertise for Membrane Studies by Water Research Commission.
