She achieved the Dr. Degree in Industrial Chemistry in 1994 from the University of Pisa and the PhD Degree in Natural Science in 1997 from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (equivalence of the Swiss PhD degree to the Italian PhD Degree in Chemical Science in 1998). She has over 10 years international experience in polymer toughening Her research activity is related to the development of biopolymers based materials, the modification and functionalization of biopolymers, the preparation and characterization of bioplastics and responsive materials with natural/biodegradable macromolecules mainly for packaging application and surface modification of polymeric substrates. Her research activity benefitted of publics funds and of collaborations with private companies or research centers. She teaches at the University of Pisa. She is author of more than 40 papers, three patents, three book chapters.
