Biographical Sketch:
Krzysztof (Kris) Matyjaszewski received his Ph. D. Degree from Polish Academy of Sciences in 1976 working under Professor Stan Penczek on the cationic ring opening polymerization. After staying as a postdoctoral fellow with Professor George B. Butler at the University of Florida and as a research associate/visiting professor at the University of Paris in the laboratory of Professor Sigwalt (carbocationic polymerization), he has joined Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in 1985, in 1998 has been appointed as J. C. Warner Professor of Natural Sciences and in 2004 as the University Professor. He has served as Chemistry Department Head from 1994 to 1998.
