Prof. Béla Iván Institute of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Research Center, Hungarian Academy of Sciences Department of Polymer Chemistry and Material Science Pusztaszeri u. 59-67 P. O. Box 17 Budapest Hungary H-1525 Email: bi@chemres.hu Biographical Sketch: Bela Ivan obtained his MS and PhD degrees at the Lorand Eotvos University, Budapest (Hungary). He has worked for the Chemical Research Center of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest since 1975. Currently, he is the department head of the Department of Polymer Chemistry and Material Science there, and an adjunct professor of Eotvos University. As visiting scientist, he carried out research on cationic polymerization at the University of Akron for 6 years (1978-1980 and 1986-1990). He was a Humboldt Fellow at the University of Mainz and a guest professor at the Technical University of Denmark in the 1990s. His research interest includes polymerization mechanisms, degradation, stabilization and recycling of polymers, functional polymers, novel polymeric nanostructures and nanohybrids, polymeric nanomedicine and application possibilities thereof. He has published more than 250 papers and a book coauthored with J. P. Kennedy, entitled „Designed Polymers by Carbocationic Macromolecular Engineering: Theory and Practice”. |
