Dr Alain Deffieux CNRS- LCPO University of Bordeaux 16 avenue Pey Berland Pessac France 33607 Email: deffieux@ipb.fr Biographical Sketch: 1988 to present: Research Director (Professor) at the laboratoire de Chimie Des polymères organiques, CNRS, Bordeaux-1 University. My Research activities are focused on precise/controlled polymerizations, going from elementary reaction processes to the design of polymers with complex chain architectures. I studied new approaches for the reactivity control in ionic polymerizations, illustrated by the so-called retarded anionic polymerization of vinylic monomers and the living monomer activated anionic polymerization of cyclic ethers. Part of my present research activities are focused on metal free polymerization catalysis based on bio-inspired organic platforms and enzymes for polymerizing conventional and bio-sourced monomers. Another research domain concerns the precise synthesis of macromolecules with complex chain architecture including branched and macrocyclic polymers. In this area we developed specific methodologies for the characterization of nanometric size macromolecules allowing their direct visualization by atomic force microscopy (AFM) at the molecular level. |
