Biographical Sketch:
Dr Morris De Beer started at the CSIR Built Environment (BE) Unit in 1976 as soil Technician. He obtained his Ph. D (Civil Engineering) in 1990 at University of Pretoria in South Africa. He is an active researcher in the areas of road pavement materials, new design and analysis methods, Accelerated Pavement Testing (APT) with the Heavy Vehicle Simulator (HVS) and rehabilitation of pavements, since the late 1970’s. During the last 30 years, he published more than 90 research reports and 30 international papers as main author, and 40 as co-author. The work covers both flexible and rigid road pavement systems, pavement materials including road pavement design, analysis, APT and tyre-pavement interaction research with the tyre Stress-In-Motion (SIM) system for road design purposes.
