Biographical Sketch:
Beshah Ayalew received his MS (2000) and Ph.D. (2005) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University and his BS (1997) degree, also in Mechanical Engineering, from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Prior to joining Clemson in August 2006 as one of the CU-ICAR faculty, he worked as a research associate at the Pennsylvania Transportation Institute. He was a Graduate Dean’s Fellow in the College of Engineering at Penn State and a Fellow of the US DOE’s Graduate Automotive Technology Education (GATE) program. He has received the NSF CAREER Award (2011) and the Penn State Alumni Association Dissertation Award (2005). His research and teaching interests lie in the general area of dynamic systems modeling and advanced robust control with the following specific applications: fluid power and electro-mechanical systems, vehicle dynamics, vehicle testing systems and hydraulic/electric hybrid drive trains.
