He has fulfilled research contracts and grants involving tire-pavement noise from the Federal Highway Administration, the American Concrete Pavement Association, the Asphalt Pavement Alliance, the Indiana DOT, and various tire manufacturers. Professor Bernhard has done extensive research on tire noise modeling and prediction using finite element and statistical techniques. He developed and is a Principal Instructor for “Tire-Pavement Noise 101”, an FHWA workshop presented over 20 times since 2005 designed to educate noise and pavement practitioners on state-of-the-art tire-pavement noise research and quiet pavement technology |
