Mr Noel Hathorn, MEng Cranfield University Centre for Automotive Technology College Road Cranfield Bedford United Kingdom MK43 0AL Email: g.n.b.hathorn@cranfield.ac.uk Biographical Sketch: Noel Hathorn received a Master of Engineering (Mechanical and Automotive Engineering) from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001. After various career moves, the joined the School of Applied Sciences at Cranfield University on the Engineering Doctorate (EngD) programme in 2007; financial support for this programme in the UK is provided by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Cranfield University has special expertise in off-road vehicle research and a close working relationship with Land Rover, who are co-sponsors on Noel’s EngD project. Jointly they opened the Cranfield Off-Road Dynamics facility in 2006. In June 2011, Noel will complete his doctoral thesis titled ‘The development of an Off-Road Environment Simulator based on dynamometer technology’ and is expected to graduate the following June. |
