Biographical Sketch: Brinda Mehta is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Akron’s Department of Polymer Science. She received her B.Eng. degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Mumbai, India (D. J. Sanghavi College of Engineering) in 2006 and her M.S. degree in Material Science and Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), in 2010. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. under Dr. Coleen Pugh at the University of Akron. The focus of her research is synthesis and characterization of renewable resource-based thermosetting polymers obtained from plant oils that can have commercial viability in fields such as green composites, coatings and elastomers. In 2013, Brinda won Ohio Rubber Group Graduate Student Award, and in 2014 she earned an Ohio Soybean Council Foundation Scholarship. In addition to pursuing her Ph.D., she was the entrepreneurial lead of the National Science Foundation I-Corps Sites team at the University of Akron.
