Biographical Sketch:
Howard Colvin, senior scientist, has worked in the rubber industry for more than 25 years as a chemist and polymer scientist. He joined Cooper Tire & Rubber Company in 2005, and is part of the Global Technical Center team, working in the Innovative Technology department. Prior to joining Cooper, Colvin led the polymer group for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s Chemical Division for 13 years. In that position, he worked on new materials using emulsion and solution polymer technology. Colvin also served as a professor of Chemistry at Florida College for four years, and continues as an adjunct professor for the school. He holds more than 40 patents and has published a number of articles in refereed journals. Colvin graduated from the University of Houston with a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry in 1975 and earned a Ph.D. in 1979 from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
