Bonding textiles to rubber requires an in-depth understanding of underlying principles in the fields of polymer and physical chemistry, thermodynamics, and rubber curing kinetics.  Four types of textile adhesion are presented along with examples of products where they are used.  The roles of Surface Energy, Solubility Parameter, and Surface Preparation and their impact on product durability are discussed.  Textile primer and RFL adhesive formulations are shown.  Some obstacles to adhesion are discussed.
