Biographical Sketch: Graduated in Chemical Engineering - Polytechnic School of USP (1980), with a Masters in Nuclear Technology by IPEN-USP (1985) and Ph.D. in Nuclear Materials Technology also by IPEN-USP (2004). There are more than 25 years leading research on irradiation of polymers. Currently Director of the Center for Chemistry and the Environment Institute of Nuclear Energy Research environment - IPEN. The main lines of research are: - synthesis, processing and characterization of polymers; - Structural modification of polymers by energetic processes; includes the study of the crosslinking, grafting, branching and scission of polymer chains process; - Development of hydrogels for applications in health and environment; - Development of clean technologies for obtaining polyolefins with controlled rheology; - Development of starch foams for packaging sustainability and development of advanced low-cost appropriate needs of SUS dressings.
