The use of 1D and 2D nanofiller in rubber compounds has gained increasing interest during the last decade. Advantages in reinforcement of elastomers obtained by using multi-walled carbon nanotubes and layered silicates respectively as well as some shortcomings observed in comparative investigation with CB as reference filler are presented. Societal uncertaintees related to potential health risk and impact of nanofillers on typical workplaces will be resumed from available literature.
