For many years accelerator blends have been produced to enable balanced, blooming-free crosslinking for industrial use, especially for EPDM compounds.  In order to achieve a high degree of crosslinking in a short cure time, highly active accelerator systems are often applied based on thiurams and dithiocarbamates.  However, during the vulcanization process these accelerators generate nitrosamines.

D.O.G has developed a new accelerator blend system in which no nitrosamines can occur and it provides faster cures with high heat resistance and improved compression set.  Studies of this accelerator blend in EPDM compounds and diene rubbers will be reviewed.
