Tuesday, October 8, 2013: 2:00 PM
Session A - Room #18 (The International Exposition (I-X) Center)
Marion Schellenberg, German Institute of Rubber Technology (DIK), Hannover, Germany and Robert H. Schuster, Dik, Deutsches Institut für Kautschuktechnologie, Hannover, Germany
The new technique of “Continuous Dynamic Latex Compounding” (CDLC) offers a number of advantages in preparation of rubber-layered silicate masterbatch manufacturing. The interesting features of this technique are a high filler dispersion, good homogeneity and a high throughput with consistently good quality and especially high reinforcing effects and excellent barrier properties obtained through an efficient exfoliation and orientation of the nano-platelets. The influence of process parameters on mechanical percolation threshold, dynamic properties, ultimate properties and permeation resistance will be presented.
