RPA Testing Improves Rubber Quality and Development at Roper Pump Company

Roper Pump Company had been molding stators for mud motors, hydraulic motors used in drilling oil wells, for 25 years, using an ODR and tensile test for monitoring incoming batches of rubber.  The addition of an RPA 2000 from Alpha Technologies allowed many more aspects of the rubber to be monitored, which prevented what could have been costly warranty issues.  The ability to program custom tests to model the injection conditions for different sizes of stators reduced processing problems on the shop floor, and we found that rapid, but comprehensive screening of new compounds speeded up rubber development.
