The Analysis Of FKM Rubber For Oil Seal In Automotive

FKM is well known as high performance polymer. Therefore it is used for the engine seal of automotives in the high temperature. However, some additives in lubricants attack to the rubber and cause lowering the performance of seal.Understanding the interaction between rubber and lubricant is important because it contributes to improve the life of seal. We developed the method to analyze the degree of degradation of the engine seal with FT-IR. The degree of degradation was increasing as driving distance.
