Biographical Sketch:
Mel attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he obtained Bachelors and Masters degrees in Materials Engineering and an MBA. He joined the Teknor Apex Company in 1975 where he conducted research and development in PVC and TPR compounds. In 1978, he joined GE Silicones (now Momentive Performance Materials) where he developed silicone elastomers for the automotive, aerospace, healthcare, and wire & cable industries. Mel currently directs Application Development and Product Development activities for both high consistency and liquid injection molding silicone elastomers. Mel has presented numerous technical papers to SAE , ACS, and the International Silicone Conference on different aspects of silicone elastomer technology and also chairs the Silicone Elastomers Technology and Fabrication Course at the University Of Wisconsin. He holds four patent applications in the silicone heat cured elastomer area.
