Ploehn is a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Ploehn previously served as Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing (8/09-12/10) and as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education (8/07-8/09). Since joining USC in 1995, Dr. Ploehn has taught a variety of courses, including fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, and advanced materials. His research, focused at the intersection of polymer materials and nanotechnology, has been funded by industry (Michelin, MeadWestvaco, Dow Chemical, DuPont, Shell) and federal agencies (National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Air Force Office of Scientific Research). |
