Traditional elastomeric compound assessments typically use ASTM tensile evaluations for property valuation. While these evaluations are useful to the rubber compounder, the compound stress-strain results often do not correspond well with the actual material strength requirements. Testing methods and mathematical models are available to evaluate rubber compounds and provide more relevant information for the final application. The current study will focus on the properties of several Zetpol compounds targeting packer applications. This evaluation will assess these compounds in several drilling and completion fluids gauging the influence they have on engineering properties.
