Dr. Sven Thiele Styron Deutschland GmbH Synthetic Rubber Business PF 1265 Merseburg Germany D-06202 Email: ssthiele@styron.com Biographical Sketch: At Organic-Chemical Institute of the Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universität in Münster Sven Thiele finished both, the diploma thesis and the Ph.D., under supervision by Prof. Dr. G. Erker. In September 1991 he obtained the diploma in chemistry with the predicate "summa cum laude”. He finished his Ph.D. work on the topic: “Catalytic Cyclizations of Diolefins with Homogeneous Metallocene-Ziegler-Catalysts” in September 1994. During his postdoctoral appointment from August 1995 to May 1997 Sven Thiele explored reductive coupling reactions with titanium-(II)-complexes at the Binghamton University in the USA. From 1997 to 1999 he investigated metallocene complex based alpha-olefin polymerizations at DSM Research in the Netherlands. In 2000 Sven Thiele joined the Synthetic Rubber business of The Dow Chemical Company at Schkopau in Germany. For the successful implementation of a new development he was awarded with the Dow Diamond Keepsake Award in 2007. Since March 2010 he is employed at Styron Deutschland GmbH.
