Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kern Montanuniversität Leoben Franz Josef Straße 18 Leoben Austria 8700 Email: wolfgang.kern@unileoben.ac.at Biographical Sketch: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kern is the head of the Institute of Chemistry of Polymeric Materials at the University of Leoben. He studied chemistry at the University of Graz and performed his PhD thesis at Graz University of Technology (PhD degree in 1992). In 1998 he obtained his habilitation (venia legendi) at TU Graz with a work on photoreactive polymers and photoinitiators bearing pseudohalide groups. Since 1992, Prof. Kern is project leader and key resarcher in the Polymer Competence Center Leoben (PCCL) In 2007, he was appointed as a full professor at the University of Leoben. Since 2008, Prof. Kern holds the position of the Scientific Director of the Polymer Competence Center Leoben. The main research activities of Prof. Kern and his working group encompass the synthesis of functional polymers, photochemistry of polymers, the surface modification and functionalization of polymers as well as chemistry at interfaces of inorganic and organic materials. |
