I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Chemistry, and Butler University with a M.S. also in Chemistry, and Purdue University in 1964 with a PhD in organic chemistry. I worked at Firestone for 17 years as a Senior R&D associate. Then, I spend four years in Kuwait as a director of the Kuwait Institute of Scientific Research. I joined Goodyear in 1983 as an R&D fellow, and retired from there in 2009. I have been working with the University of Akron in the College of Polymer Science as an adjunct professor from 2009-present. I authored 90 publications and 300 US patents.
