Polyfil® DP-8076 is a new kaolin developed to substitute for carbon black (N500 - N700 series) or low surface area silica in a rubber formulation resulting in lower lb-vol cost, a reduced carbon footprint, and opportunity to improve processing rates by leveraging viscosity reductions.    Polyfil DP-8076 is a hydrous kaolin that has been processed so that its surface is optimized to react with silane in the internal mixer using a normal mixing cycle.  Our environmentally friendly process allows this kaolin to be optimized while maintaining its status as a REACH exempt material.   This paper introduces this new Green alternative to oil based products and provides formulation guides for carbon black or silica substitution and how to achieve equal hardness, tensile strength, DIN abrasion and how to leverage processing advantages.
